A quick, hearty one-pan recipe combining ground beef, cabbage, and simple seasonings for a nourishing, low-fuss dinner that’s ready in under 30 minutes.
1 lb ground beef (85–90% lean)
4–5 cups thinly sliced green cabbage
1 medium yellow onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp tomato paste
1–2 tbsp olive oil
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
½ tsp paprika or Italian seasoning (optional)
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 5–6 minutes. Drain excess fat.
Push beef to one side. Add onion and cook 2–3 minutes, then stir in garlic for 30 seconds.
Stir in tomato paste and optional spices. Mix until well combined.
Add cabbage. Stir and cook for 10–12 minutes until soft and lightly browned. Cover for a few minutes to help it steam.
Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve hot with parsley or cheese if desired.
Use a large pan to avoid crowding. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Cabbage will cook down as it softens.
