Viral Dumpling Bake – Easy Weeknight Dinner

Comforting dumpling bake with sautéed vegetables, optional shredded chicken, and a creamy sauce, topped with golden biscuit dumplings and cheese.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 medium carrots, diced
2 stalks celery, diced
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
1 cup frozen peas
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup chicken or vegetable stock
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1/4 teaspoon paprika
2 cups cooked, shredded chicken or turkey (optional)
1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (or homemade dough)
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  • Sauté onion, garlic, carrots, and celery in olive oil until softened.
  • Add mushrooms; cook until browned. Add peas.
  • Sprinkle flour over vegetables; cook 1–2 minutes.
  • Gradually whisk in milk and stock, add thyme, salt, pepper, and paprika; simmer until thickened.
  • Stir in chicken/turkey if using. Transfer mixture to baking dish.
  • Arrange biscuit dough on top; sprinkle cheese.
  • Bake 20–25 minutes until dumplings are golden and sauce is bubbling. Garnish with parsley.

Notes

Can be made vegetarian, swap vegetables or dough types, add herbs/spices for variation.
